AI Engineer, London. The most leveraged seat in the company.

A London technology company, around 85 people, well backed and approaching profitability, is hiring one AI Engineer to rebuild how the company itself operates.

This is not a product engineering job. You will sit in the middle of the business, next to finance, legal, ops and customer success, reporting directly to one of the founders. There is nobody else in this seat. Everything you build compounds, because every hour you give back to a colleague turns into revenue and every process you rebuild permanently changes the cost base.

The first job is concrete and already scoped. Automate customer support and onboarding so the customer success team stops answering tickets and starts growing accounts. Then link the sales, delivery and finance data into one spine so the exec team can ask a question instead of commissioning a project.

The third job is the real one, and nobody has written the brief. Rebuild the company from first principles, agent-first, so the default answer to who does this is an agent with a human owning the outcome. You will write that brief yourself.

What we need to see. You have built something that other people actually use, and you can tell us how you got them to use it. You are comfortable in Python, you push your own work live, and you are a level deeper than someone who builds inside a chat window. You can sit with somebody in finance or customer success, work out what really slows them down, and design the fix yourself without waiting for a spec.

What we do not need. A degree. A particular number of years. A background in this sector. The founder said plainly that he cares about the person and the aptitude, not the CV shape.

One more thing, and it matters more than any of the above. You have to be willing to walk up to a colleague and tell them to use the thing you built, and willing to stand your ground with a founder who wants to be argued with.

London, three days a week in office. Three month contract outside IR35 to start, converting to permanent. 60k to 75k base equivalent with equity on conversion.
