Job summary

Aperia Search is seeking an AI Engineer to build production AI products from the ground up. The role offers up to £100k plus bonus and benefits, with options for fully remote or London hybrid work.

You will join a major European consumer group investing heavily in AI, building an AI capability that will deploy across the group. You’ll design technical approaches, write code, and assemble the infrastructure to connect models, data, APIs, and services into usable products.

AI Engineer – build production AI products from the ground up

Up to £100k + bonus + benefits

Fully remote or London Hybrid

Our client is a major European consumer group operating a portfolio of established brands across 90+ international markets.

The business is making a significant investment in AI and is building a new, dedicated AI capability to develop and deploy AI products across the Group. This is an opportunity to join at an early stage and help build the AI products, applications and technical foundations that will support a growing portfolio of AI use cases across the business.

You'll take real business problems and turn them into production systems: designing the technical approach, writing the code, building the infrastructure and connecting the models, data, APIs and services needed to make them work.

What you're coming in to build

This is the beginning of a new AI function with ambitious plans to grow. You'll be joining at an early stage, helping shape how AI products are designed, engineered and deployed as the team and its capabilities scale.

One project might involve building an LLM-powered application using RAG, embeddings and vector databases. Another could involve an agentic workflow connecting models to internal tools, APIs and business systems. Others will require you to build the backend services, integrations and cloud infrastructure needed to turn an idea into something people can actually use.

You'll take significant ownership of the technical implementation, from working out the right approach through to getting the solution into production.

This isn't a research role, and we're not looking for someone whose AI experience stops at notebooks, prototypes or prompting. We're looking for an engineer who can build the system around the model.

What experience you'll bring

• Strong Python and software engineering foundations
• Hands-on experience building and deploying AI/GenAI applications into production
• Commercial experience working with LLMs such as Claude, OpenAI or similar
• Strong understanding of RAG, embeddings and vector databases
• Experience building agentic AI workflows and applications
• Experience designing and building APIs, backend services and integrations
• Experience with AWS or another major cloud platform
• Experience with LangChain, LlamaIndex or similar AI application frameworks
• Good understanding of testing, CI/CD, monitoring and modern software engineering practices
• Experience with MCP or similar approaches for connecting AI applications with external tools and systems would be beneficial
