Job summary

University of Law is seeking an AI Developer in Education to join the Technology Enhanced Learning and Teaching team. You will own the development, configuration and optimisation of AI tools used across our educational provision, turning requirements into functional AI-powered solutions.

We expect hands-on experience with AI platforms, LLM APIs and data integration, plus the ability to work with academic and professional services teams.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable experience developing, configuring and maintaining AI tools or software applications.
• Strong programming skills in one or more relevant languages, such as Python or JavaScript, with experience in AI/ML.
• Hands-on experience with LLM APIs, prompt engineering and AI platforms including chatbot/agent frameworks.
• Experience with APIs, system architecture and data integration.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging abilities, with clear written communication.
• Experience explaining technical concepts to non-technical colleagues.
• Knowledge of data security, GDPR and compliance.
• Willingness to experiment with new tech while judging usefulness and scalability.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Topics, Agents and Workflows within our generative AI platform.
• Build, test and refine AI-powered learning experiences with user feedback.
• Lead pilots and PoCs and assess value delivery.
• Integrate AI platforms with University systems (e.g., Blackboard Ultra) and other learning tech.
• Work with APIs, data integrations and ensure secure, reliable solutions.
• Act as a technical expert for AI platforms and partner roadmaps.
• Troubleshoot issues and improve performance, usability and reliability.
• Document technical guidance for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Collaborate with academic, learning design and professional services to translate needs into solutions.
• Ensure security, accessibility, data protection and academic integrity.
