Job summary

The University of Exeter is seeking a talented researcher to join a 30-month Knowledge Transfer Partnership with Oxford Instruments Plasma Technology (OIPT). The role is based at OIPT in Severn Beach, Bristol, with some Exeter visits, and a starting salary of £43,482–£46,049 on Grade F depending on qualifications and experience.

We require a Master’s degree in CS or Physics, strong AI/ML or plasma physics expertise, Python proficiency, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

  • Master’s level education in CS or Physics or related field.
  • Strong AI/ML or plasma physics and numerical methods expertise.
  • Proficiency in Python and interest in machine learning.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication for mixed audiences.
  • Ability to lead and work in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience in managing research projects or collaborations.
  • Organised, self-motivated and able to prioritise work.
  • Willingness to work at OIPT Severn Beach with Exeter visits.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to a 30-month KTP project between Exeter and OIPT.
  • Apply AI techniques to semiconductor processing modelling.
  • Collaborate with academic and industrial supervisors and teams.
  • Publish academic papers and present at conferences.
