Job summary

The Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) in the United Kingdom invites an AI & Data Science Engineer to join multidisciplinary engineering projects. You will develop ML models, build data pipelines and create Python‑based tools to support decision‑making and system intelligence across teams.

You will work with senior engineers to interpret requirements, document AI‑related interfaces, and explore cloud ML platforms for deployment potential.

Qualifications

• Proficient in Python with NumPy, Pandas and scikit‑learn.
• Solid understanding of ML fundamentals and model evaluation.
• Knowledge of data pipelines and analytics workflows.
• Ability to interpret technical requirements into tasks.
• Interest in system‑level thinking across engineering domains.

Responsibilities

• Develop ML models for prediction, classification and anomaly detection.
• Build and maintain data pipelines for structured, unstructured and sensor data.
• Implement Python modules for training, evaluation and deployment.
• Create UI tools using Python frameworks to visualize data and model outputs.
• Support feature extraction, dataset curation and data quality checks.
• Participate in model benchmarking, validation and documentation.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to elicit AI requirements.
• Research COTS AI tools and cloud services for potential integration.
• Contribute to system architecture with data flows and module interfaces.
• Assist integration testing across data, software and hardware.
