Job summary

Plessey in Plymouth is seeking an AI Data & Integration Engineer to connect our data and systems to AI, enabling secure, scalable access for production, engineering and business teams.

You will design pipelines, build MCP-enabled connectors, and ensure data is structured, governed and ready for AI agents to deliver measurable productivity gains.

The role reports to the Lead AI Solutions Engineer and partners with IT, data owners and operations to turn real needs into reliable data access.

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering in Python with production experience of APIs, services and data pipelines.
• Experience with databases and large, complex datasets.
• Understanding of how LLM agents use tools and what makes a tool easy or hard for an agent to use.

Responsibilities

• Map data sources, owners, structure, quality and access controls.
• Build pipelines to turn raw fab data into agent-ready data: tool logs, recipes, SPC, metrology, test data.
• Design and own connectors enabling AI agents to access data and systems (MCP).
• Ensure cost-efficient, scalable connections ready for multi-step and event-driven work.
• Test connections with real agents on real tasks and monitor production without impacting sources.
• Secure access with least privilege, audit trails and data protection.
