Job description

Position Description

As a Developer in our AI Modernization Team, you will work at the intersection of software engineering and AI tooling, building automated solutions that transform how legacy systems are migrated to modern platforms.

You will design and implement AI-driven tools using LangChain, Semantic Kernel, Devin, and other emerging technologies to automate code analysis, transformation, testing, and deployment. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a cutting-edge methodology that scales modernization efforts across diverse technology stacks and businesses.

You’ll be part of a high-impact, forward‑thinking team led by the Director of Technology, bringing together AI Engineers, a Product Manager, and handpicked developers from across our portfolio. Together, the team is focused on redefining how we modernize legacy systems through AI‑first approaches.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and maintain AI‑driven tooling to automate legacy system migrations (e.g., monoliths, microservices, .NET Framework, .NET Core, AngularJS, modern frameworks).
  • Collaborate with AI Engineers and the Head of Development to integrate Lang Chain and Semantic Kernel agents into workflows.
  • Use platforms like Devin to orchestrate repetitive development tasks.
  • Build modular, reusable utilities for parsing, transforming, and refactoring frontend, backend, and database code.
  • Run proof of concepts for AI automation in areas such as test generation, API modernization, schema translation, and dependency analysis.
  • Contribute to evolving the team’s sophisticated migration methodology, enhancing automation coverage and robustness.
  • Adapt to diverse legacy stacks, including proprietary or niche technologies.
  • Be highly autonomous and proactive in identifying opportunities for automation.
  • Communicate clearly and collaborate across cross‑functional technical teams.
  • Willing to learn rapidly evolving AI tools and frameworks.
  • Detail‑oriented with a mindset for quality and maintainability, even when automating.
Requirements
  • Proven experience modernizing or migrating legacy systems (e.g., WinForms, Web Forms, VB.NET, classic ASP, SQL Server, Oracle).
  • Strong command of code refactoring, dependency mapping, and system decomposition best practices.
  • Hands‑on experience building or integrating AI tools into development workflows.
  • Familiarity with Lang Chain, Semantic Kernel, Devin, or similar frameworks/agents.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications
  • Background in the .NET ecosystem (ASP.NET Core, Entity Framework, MS Build).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and DevOps tools (Terraform, Docker, GitHub Actions).
  • Exposure to AI‑integrated IDEs (Cursor, Devin).
  • Comfort with scripting in Python, TypeScript, or PowerShell.
Employee Perks
  • Be part of a pioneering AI‑first modernization team working at portfolio level.
  • Opportunity to shape how we automate modernization at scale using cutting‑edge AI.
  • Work in a collaborative, experimentation‑friendly culture with high technical depth.
  • Competitive compensation and career advancement opportunities within Valsoft’s global network.
