Job description

Job Description:

Airbus Helicopters UK

Commercial and Export Control Apprentice

Oxford, UK

Want to spread your wings? What if your adventure begins with us? Whatever your dream job may be, we might just have the apprenticeship for you!

You will join a globally recognised company, established on every continent and enriched by a diversity of backgrounds, expertise, and cultures. Focused on digital technology and at the forefront of research and innovation, you have the opportunity to become part of this exciting journey.

Airbus Helicopters is the world’s largest helicopter manufacturer, and the company’s site at Oxford Airport is Britain’s civil helicopter hub. AHUK offers considerable experience in helicopter sales, bespoke completions, maintenance, and spares support. Its in‑house engineering capabilities include design, customisation, installation, flight‑testing, and certification, as well as technical support, maintenance, training, and the supply of spares for civil and military applications. Furthermore, AHUK is the MoD’s chosen provider of helicopters and maintenance for its Defence Helicopter Flying School (referred to as MFTS) located in RAF Shawbury (Shropshire) and RAF Valley (Anglesey).

Choosing one or more years of an apprenticeship is a unique opportunity to combine the knowledge gained during your studies with hands‑on application in a challenging professional environment. The Airbus team will train and support you throughout your apprenticeship, helping you grow and evolve.

An apprenticeship offer for a Commercial and Export Control Apprentice has just opened within Airbus Helicopters UK at our Oxford site.

Hosted within the AHUK Commercial Team, you will work under the management and direction of the Export Control Officer, who will help you to identify your professional objectives and support you in the development of your skills. No prior experience in Export Control is required, and full onboarding and training will be provided.

As a Commercial and Export Control Apprentice, you will immerse yourself in the dynamic world of business development and sales, providing crucial operational support to our dedicated Commercial Team. In this role, you will gain hands‑on experience by assisting with the preparation of commercial proposals, managing customer data, and supporting contract management processes. You will liaise closely with cross‑functional departments and external stakeholders, developing a deep understanding of our product portfolio and market strategy. This apprenticeship offers a unique opportunity to cultivate essential business acumen, analytical skills, and relationship‑building expertise in a fast‑paced, globally recognised environment, setting a strong foundation for your future career.

Strategic Export Control is a highly critical part of AHUK's business, ensuring the compliant export and transfer of military and dual‑use goods in accordance with UK and US legislation. Export Control is a small but growing arena, offering excellent opportunities for career development.

You will interface with all levels within AHUK and the wider Airbus organisation, from the shop floor through to Senior Management. The role provides excellent career development potential as a result of the detailed product and business knowledge—and associated profile—gained within the wider Airbus organisation. Execution of the role may involve some travel to other Airbus locations (predominantly France and Germany) as well as supplier and customer locations.
