Job description

AHP Workforce Transformation Clinical Lead

This post is secondment for up to 6 months in line with available funding.

There is one clinical lead post available (0.6WTE) which will have a workforce focus.

This key role sits within the HEIW Nurse, Health Professional and Quality Directorate and the HEIW-managed Allied Health Professional Workforce Transformation Team. The role encompasses leadership, strategic workforce planning, and management of key aspects of workforce transformation. As such the post holder will be required to work in a matrix style management arrangement supporting the Associate Director of Allied Health Professional Workforce Transformation as well as working alongside colleagues from within the Nursing, Health Professions and Quality Directorate and other professional leads.

This post is a secondment due to commence on 1st October until 31st March, 2026.

This post is being offered as a secondment opportunity only. If you wish to apply, you must have your line manager's approval before making an application. This post is for a fixed secondment period but may be extended or made permanent at the end of the secondment period depending on available funding and business requirement.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will support the Associate Director of Workforce Transformation for Allied Health Professionals, on dedicated workforce related projects focused on the Allied Health Professions across Wales. The post holders will identify opportunities for creation of inter-professional resources and strategic and professional developments, matrix working across HEIW with engagement across the allied health professions.

Qualifications and Knowledge
  • Educated to Master's degree level in relevant subject, or equivalent level of experience of working at a similar level in specialist area.
  • Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as an Allied Health Professional as defined within Wales. Specialist, in-depth knowledge of allied health professions Quality and Safety, Research and Innovation and/or Service Transformation.
  • Knowledge of HEIW's remit and responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of the importance of emerging technology in healthcare and its importance to the health and care agenda.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of working in a allied health professional setting.
  • Knowledge of the strategic direction for NHS Wales.
Experience
  • Experience of developing Quality and Safety, Research and Innovation and/or Service Transformation within allied healthcare settings.
  • Experience as an educational supervisor within an allied health care setting.
  • Delivery of objectives in a cross- organisational environment and through multi-stakeholder negotiations.
  • Involvement in research and evaluation of education and training and/or workforce transformation.
  • Experience of leading and implementing strategic change.
