We are currently recruiting for an Agriculture Inspector Group 1 based in Larne Port. The successful candidates will be required to start once the vetting paperwork, ANI clearance has been completed.
Duration: 4 months
Rate of pay: £17.92
Hours of work: Full Time Shift work.
37 hours per week. This will be worked as part of a shift arrangement which includes regular weekend and night duties. The four-week shift pattern provides coverage for 3 shifts of approximately 8.24 hours each, including early, late, and overnight shifts, with a one-hour rest/meal break. Staff cover 6 nights during the night shift week.

Key Responsibilities:
The role involves supporting veterinary staff in carrying out sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) checks on eligible goods entering Northern Ireland (NI) Points of Entry, such as NI sea and airports, from 1st January 2021. The Inspector Group 1 will work as part of a team monitoring the import and export of livestock, animal products, poultry, plants, and timber. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with regulations, conducting checks to prevent illegal movements and imports of animal-origin products, issuing rectification and detention notices for non-compliance, assisting with investigations into discrepancies, and inspecting ports to prevent the entry of epizootic diseases.
Essential Criteria:
Applicants with relevant formal qualifications of an equivalent or higher standard will also be considered. Evidence of qualifications must be provided.
