The Job:
A leading land based education provider is seeking a motivated and skilled Instructor in Agriculture / Countryside Management to support the delivery of practical-based teaching within Further Education programmes.

Key Responsibilities:

- Deliver and support practical sessions alongside lecturers, particularly in livestock and dairy management
- Demonstrate best practice in line with current health and safety procedures
- Assist with the procurement of consumables for agricultural teaching
- Coordinate and supervise students during dairy practicals in collaboration with lecturers and farm staff


The Candidate:

- A strong practical skillset and industry knowledge in agriculture or countryside management.
- A relevant degree or significant experience in the agricultural sector is desirable.
- Ability to work collaboratively within diverse teams.
- Strong administrative skills and confidence in liaising with industry professionals and stakeholders.

Job Description

Post: Agricultural Instructor

Department: FE Agriculture

Reporting to: Head of FE Agriculture

Salary: £23,810 - £28,227 per annum (Dependant on qualifications &

experience) Band 2, Points 7 - 14

Hours per week: A minimum of 37.5 hours per week

Contract Type: Professional Services / Permanent

Annual Leave: 25 days per annum, rising to 30 days with length of service

Probation Period: 6 Months

Main Purpose of job role:

Responsible for instructing and assessing students and for assisting with the planned practical

activities and the upkeep of the machinery, tools and equipment.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Preparing for, instructing and demonstrating a range of practical skills and techniques relevant

to agricultural courses or programmes of study.

2. Ensure that Hartpury’s policies on Health, Safety & Wellbeing are implemented and monitor

systems of work in order to achieve a safe working environment.

3. Maintain working areas and machinery in a safe and tidy condition.

4. Supervision of students undertaking the development and consolidation of practical skills.

5. Instruct and assess, if appropriate, agricultural students in driving and farm maintenance

related skills leading to BTEC and vocational qualifications.

6. Liaise with academic staff to ensure all practical’s are set up and organised in advance of the

session.

7. Provide ongoing feedback to students and trainees to maintain appropriate standards of work.

8. Preparation of tools, equipment, machinery and work areas for practical sessions.

9. Promote team-work and motivation amongst students.

10. Take part in programme team meetings and other meetings as required.

11. Develop and maintain industrial and vocational links on behalf of the Department.
