The Agile Category & Sourcing Specialist will be a highly organised, strategic, and communicative individual, providing support across the cost team. This role operates at an expert level and will lead and execute complex cost, procurement and sourcing initiatives across the bank. This role requires expertise in process design, demand optimisation, sourcing, supplier management, contract negotiation, and cross-functional leadership. You will be responsible for managing high-value programme activities that assist Santander UK and other group entities that Santander UK provide service to in achieving its cost to income targets.

The difference you’ll make:

As Agile Category & Sourcing Specialist you’ll play a key part in the continual evolvement of Cost Management and Procurement, driving us towards Even Better Cost Management and Procurement. You will lead material cost and procurement projects across the organisation, establishing success criteria and execution timelines, and driving us to becoming the easiest way to make our customers better happen. You will act as an expert reference point for the banks cost management process and the external market. You will also ensure that quality, compliance and cost-effectiveness of the work delivered by our suppliers meets Santander expectations

The specific responsibility of the role is to deliver the following:

  • Build multi-year sourcing and category strategies using market data and industry trends, ensuring Lead end-to-end strategic procurement activities from initiation through execution and close-out.

  • Lead cost transformation activity, driving changes to reporting, management information and systems that drive quantifiable value to the organisation

  • Partner with suppliers to deliver complex and market leading value enhancement programmes.

  • Ensure that project and supplier due diligence, onboarding, and third-party risk assessments are completed in line with regulatory requirements

  • Negotiate complex supplier agreements and contracts, ensuring favourable terms and risk mitigation with emphasis on cyber security, data privacy, SLAs and exit planning

  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to drive success.


What you’ll bring:

  • Proven record of successful category management in a global procurement organization.

  • Experience of leading transformation projects and programmes.

  • Understands complex large contracts, commercial influences and technical drafting

  • Contribute to financial planning, including delivery of annual budget submissions, monthly forecasting, reviewing the spend versus budget status, key initiatives, opportunities and risks

It would also be nice for you to have:

  • Experience in cost operating systems

  • Experience in operating in Procurement systems

  • Experience of presenting business cases at an executive level

What else you need to know:

Our preferred location for this role is Unity Place but we will also consider applications in Bradford and Glasgow.

To support this, we offer site-based contracts with a hybrid working pattern and our expected level of attendance in an office is at least 12 days per month (pro-rata for part-time roles).

As well as a competitive salary, you’ll enjoy a benefits package that you can tailor to your needs. For part-time / contract roles, your salary, bonus (where eligible) and certain benefits will be prorated to reflect your working hours / contract duration.   • Eligible for a discretionary performance-related annual bonus.

  • We put 8% of salary into your pension, even if you don’t contribute yourself. We’ll pay in up to 12.5% of salary, if you contribute as well, and you can take some of our contribution in cash if you prefer.

  • 30 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, which increases to 31 days after 5yrs service, with the option to purchase up to 5 contractual days per year.

  • £6,000 car allowance per year.

  • Company funded individual private medical insurance.
