Job summary

Airbus Defence and Space Limited is seeking a Graduate Software Engineer for the AGGP2027 programme starting September 2027. You will join a two-year development journey designed to build leadership, technical skills and program exposure.

During the programme you will contribute to cutting-edge aerospace software projects, work across teams, and rotate through placements to grow into the role. This is a permanent entry-level opportunity requiring a software engineering degree, good English, and

Responsibilities

• Contribute to aerospace software projects and develop innovative software solutions.
• Participate in the full software development life cycle from requirements to delivery.
• Collaborate with systems engineers, Test engineers and project managers.
• Develop mainly in Java, using the latest technologies to test and optimise software.
• Learn to write technical documentation and contribute to process improvements.
• Learn and apply new technologies as project needs evolve.
• Assist with integration of software components with hardware and systems.
• Complete at least one rotational placement during the programme.

What You Will Be Doing

You will be on a development journey to guide your growth into the role of AGGP2027 - Graduate Software Engineer and can expect to be involved in the following:

• Contribute to cutting-edge projects in the aerospace and defence sector developing and implementing innovative software solutions across various domains, working within a dynamic and collaborative team environment.
• Participate in the full software development life cycle, from requirements gathering to delivery maintenance, following both Waterfall and Agile Software development approaches.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including systems engineers, Test engineers and project managers.
• Developing mainly in Java, you will use the latest technologies and tools to develop, test, debug, and optimise the performance of your software and that of the product.
• Learn to write and maintain technical documentation and contribute to the continuous improvement of software development processes and tools.
• Learn, with support, and apply new technologies and programming languages as required by project needs.
• Supprt the integration of software components with hardware and other systems and learn to understand and adhere to industry standards, best practices, and company policies for software development and security.

Your development journey will include a minimum of one rotational placement to support your growth into position.

At the end of the two year development programme you will have developed into the position of AGGP2027 - Graduate Software Engineer.

What We Are Looking For

To be a successful applicant, you will need to demonstrate you have:

• A degree level or equivalent within Software Engineering
• Recently graduated or first professional experience in the field of Software Engineering
• Strong verbal and written communication in our business language (English)
• A desire to work in a collaborative team environment, focused on driving future innovation
• The ability to be self aware and a wish to be in the driving seat of your development.
