Job summary

Cambridge Consultants is seeking an Agentic AI Engineer (Defence & Security) to lead technical work on AI systems for defence and security clients. You will mentor junior engineers, shape proposals, and work with clients to translate needs into credible technical approaches.

You will require UK security clearance, with hybrid working options in the UK. The role offers opportunity to turn state-of-the-art research into robust systems with strong computing resources.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of designing and delivering cutting-edge AI solutions with agentic AI experience preferred.
• Strong Python programming skills and modern software development practices.
• Undergraduate degree in AI/ML/CS/Math/Physics or related field.
• Proven track record delivering quality technical work in a team.
• Ability to lead and mentor others and engage with clients on proposals.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement cutting-edge AI solutions for defence and security problems.
• Take technical ownership of significant parts of client projects with minimal supervision.
• Act as technical lead on smaller projects and influence larger ones.
• Mentor more junior engineers and support their development.
• Work directly with clients to understand problems and shape technical approaches.
• Contribute to proposals and scope new work.
• Build demonstrators and capabilities showcasing defence, security, and adjacent markets.
