Job summary

Hewett Recruitment is seeking an experienced Aftersales Engineer (Auto Electrical) field-based across the South UK. You will diagnose and repair auto electrical faults on cars, vans and HGVs, and support installation of in-vehicle technology.

Travel nationwide with occasional overnight stays, use multimeters and test equipment, and document job reports for customers. The role offers up to £41,000, permanent, full-time and field-based work.

Qualifications

• Auto-electrical fault-finding experience required.
• Experience with in-vehicle technology (trackers, cameras, DVRs).
• Experience with multiple vehicle types including commercial/HGVs.
• Able to use multimeters and electrical test equipment.
• Full UK driving licence is essential.
• Willingness to travel nationally with overnight stays.

Responsibilities

Are you an experienced Auto Electrician or Field Service Engineer with a background working on vehicle electrical systems?

An established vehicle technology business is looking for an Aftersales Engineer to provide field-based technical support, fault finding and repairs across its customer base.

You'll work on a variety of vehicles including cars, vans and HGVs, diagnosing issues with cameras, DVRs, tracking systems and other in-vehicle technology.

The Role

• Diagnose and repair electrical faults on cars, vans and HGVs.
• Fault-find cameras, DVRs, tracking systems and associated equipment.
• Test and repair wiring, power supplies, connections and hardware.
• Attend customer sites across the UK, prioritising Vehicle Off Road cases.
• Support installations where required.
• Complete accurate job reports and technical notes.
• Manage van stock, tools and test equipment.
• Provide a professional service directly to customers on site.

Essential Requirements

• Previous auto-electrical fault-finding experience.
• Experience installing or repairing in-vehicle technology, such as trackers, cameras or DVR systems.
• Experience working across different vehicle types, ideally including commercial vehicles or HGVs.
• Confident using multimeters and electrical test equipment.
• Ability to work independently in a field-based environment.
• Full, clean UK driving licence.
• Willingness to travel nationally with some overnight stays.

Desirable

• IMI, NVQ Level 3 or similar Auto Electrical qualification.
• Telematics, vehicle CCTV or asset-tracking experience.
• Digital tachograph knowledge.
• Experience working with specialist vehicles or plant.
