Job summary

Begbrook Primary Academy in Bristol is seeking an enthusiastic Afterschool Club Playworker to support children after the school day with play, learning and enrichment activities.

The role is part-time (5 hours per week on Thursdays and Fridays), fixed-term until 31 August 2027, with a provisional start mid-September 2026, and requires a caring approach, effective communication with children and parents, and a First Aid qualification or willingness to train.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children in after-school settings or similar environments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with children and parents.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to supervise and engage children.

Responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day running of the after-school provision, ensuring a safe, stimulating and inclusive environment for all children.
  • Communicate effectively with children, encouraging their participation in play and learning activities.
  • Supervise children during playtime, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Plan and implement engaging activities that promote physical, social, and emotional development.
  • Foster positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues to create a supportive community.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the play area, ensuring all equipment is safe and suitable for use.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to support the overall objectives of the after-school club.
