Job summary

Thameside Primary School in Normanton on Trent is seeking a passionate Play Assistant to join our aftercare team, delivering engaging childcare activities for children aged 4-12 in our school-run Wraparound Care Service. Start date October 2026, or asap; 12 hours per week, 3:00–6:00pm, Monday to Thursday during term time.

The role involves planning and delivering safe activities, encouraging participation, supporting children 1:1 with complex needs if required, assisting with food preparation

Qualifications

• Experience working with children is preferred.
• Self-motivated with strong communication skills.
• Willingness to complete safeguarding and health & safety training.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver safe activities for groups of children from all class ranges.
• Engage with children to promote learning and social development.
• Support 1:1 with children who have complex needs (if required).
• Assist with food preparation for afterschool tea/snacks.
• Ensure safeguarding and health & safety procedures are followed.
