Hours: Part-time, permanent position: Monday to Thursday, 3.15pm to 6.00pm, 11 hours per week, term time only (35 weeks a year)
The Role
- Assist in the day-to-day operation of the Pre-Prep/Nursery After School Club (Conkers/Acorns).
- Be responsible for the wellbeing of children attending this club and adhere to all relevant school policies and procedures regarding supervision.
Main Duties
- Work with other supervising staff to plan and deliver suitable activities catering to children’s educational, social, emotional, recreational, and welfare needs, prioritising the child's welfare at all times.
- Prepare resources or activities required for sessions.
- Report any concerns of child abuse to a Safeguarding Team member, maintaining confidentiality.
- Liaise with parents/carers at the end of the day or when passing messages from teaching staff.
- Keep the After-School Club area clean and tidy during operation and report any health and safety issues to the Head of Pre-Prep.
- Assist with food preparation and distribution.
- Assist with personal care and toilet needs, including nappy changing in Nursery.
- Attend to and document accidents during after-school care.
- Help children organise their belongings for collection.
- Accurately report attendance and manage children’s sign-out, including late collection charges.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with Data Protection Regulations.
- Perform other duties as reasonably requested by managers.
- Follow safeguarding and supervision procedures during entry and exit of children.
- Guide and monitor any GAP year students assisting with the provision, ensuring compliance with safeguarding and health & safety requirements.
Skills and Qualifications
- Experience working with children
- Level 3 or above in childcare or a related subject
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection
- Team player with good communication skills
- Enthusiastic, creative, and proactive
- Ability to keep accurate records
- Good timekeeping and punctuality
- Paediatric First Aid certification (Desirable)
