Job summary

Manpower Group (UK) is seeking a Stress Engineer for stress and structural analysis at Boscombe Down. This is a 12-month contract with a pay rate of £60–£80 per hour inside IR35 via Umbrella.

SC clearance/eligibility is required for this position. You will deliver technical assessments for flight trials and modifications, perform static strength, vibration, fatigue and damage tolerance analyses, and use hand calculations plus FEM tools to verify designs and support regulatory certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience with aerospace products or aircraft modifications.
• Proficient in hand calculations and FEM.
• Experience with fatigue and damage tolerance.

Responsibilities

• Deliver technical assessments for flight trials, product development and research.
• Perform static strength, vibration, fatigue and damage tolerance analyses.
• Apply hand calculations and FEM to verify designs per regulations.
• Plan and conduct structural tests (static strength, modal).
• Produce calculations and docs with traceability to source data.
• Support surveys and tests through Stress Office and AEC processes.
• Check calculations and drawings; contribute to design reviews.
• Mentor junior engineers and improve methods.
