Job summary

Morson Edge is seeking a Mechanical Production Engineer to support manufacturing and assembly operations for an Aerospace/Defence client near the Wiltshire/Dorset border. The 6-month contract may extend to permanent.

You will develop and refine manufacturing processes for mechanical components, create instructions and bills of materials, and collaborate with Design Engineering to resolve tolerances and manufacturability issues, driving continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Experience in a mechanical manufacturing or production engineering environment.
• Good understanding of mechanical manufacturing and assembly processes.
• Experience providing technical support directly to production.
• Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to engineering problems.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day technical support to manufacturing and assembly operations.
• Develop and improve manufacturing processes for aerospace mechanical components and assemblies.
• Create and maintain manufacturing instructions, process sheets, routings and bills of materials.
• Support NPI from design through to production.
• Conduct manufacturing feasibility and producibility assessments.
• Investigate production problems using structured root-cause analysis techniques.
• Implement corrective and preventative actions to eliminate recurring manufacturing issues.
• Support non-conformance investigations and disposition activities.
• Work with Design Engineering to resolve drawing, tolerance and manufacturability issues.
• Develop and optimise mechanical assembly processes.
• Implement lean manufacturing and continuous-improvement initiatives.
• Ensure production processes comply with company procedures and applicable aerospace standards.
• Maintain accurate engineering and manufacturing documentation.
