Job summary

ALTEN in the United Kingdom is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to support the development of innovative aerospace products from concept through production. You will join the Farnborough team to assist design, development and manufacture of advanced composite structures and aerospace systems.

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will contribute to the full product lifecycle, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and apply DFMA and GD&T principles to deliver robust engineering solutions.

Qualifications

• 5–9 years of mechanical engineering experience.
• Experience producing and reviewing drawings and technical documentation.
• Strong GD&T understanding and design principles.
• Experience with design change management in a controlled environment.
• Knowledge of composite structures and DFMA considerations.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and DFMA.
• Experience supporting prototype and production build activities.
• Strong problem-solving, communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Producing, reviewing and improving engineering drawings and drawing packs.
• Supporting product definition activities, including GD&T application and configuration-controlled design changes.
• Contributing to composite structure design and development activities.
• Applying Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) principles throughout the design process.
• Supporting prototype, development and production build activities.
• Ensuring engineering data provides a clear route from concept through to manufacturing and airworthiness activities.
• Working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.
