Job Description:

Overview

Stirling Dynamics is recruiting DO-254 System / Hardware / Electronics Engineers to join the Software & Electronics Hardware team.

The primary focus of the role will be to support the design and development of electric actuator controller products for Urban Air Mobility eVTOL aircraft.

This role will be predominantly based in the Stirling Dynamics Bristol office with occasional travel to clients’ sites as required. We offer flexible working options, including hybrid and fully remote arrangements, and staff can choose to work from our parent company Expleo’s offices in Preston or Derby if preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and engineering expertise to deliver DO-254 projects through to certification.
  • Plan, design, specify, verify, and validate electronic controllers for electromechanical aerospace systems.

Qualifications

  • An Engineering Degree, ideally with an electronics bias, or relevant experience.

Skills

  • Professional attitude and good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Enjoys teamwork and collaboration.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple requirements.
  • Pragmatic, systematic, and self-motivated to complete tasks successfully.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years aerospace product development experience on DO-254 projects.
  • Experience at Senior or Principal Engineer level.
  • Deriving and specifying hardware requirements.
  • Design and specification of system electronics architecture, including both simple and complex electronics.
  • Experience with power electronics and motor drive design.
  • Knowledge of DO-254 planning and development phases, including SOI audits.
  • Applied knowledge of DO-160 standards.
  • Experience with electromechanical position sensors such as LVDT, RVDT, and encoders.
  • Experience with FPGA-based systems.
