Job description

Overview

Stirling Dynamics is recruiting DO-254 System / Hardware / Electronics Engineers to join the Software & Electronics Hardware team.

The primary focus of the role will be to support the design and development of electric actuator controller products for Urban Air Mobility eVTOL aircraft.

This role will be predominantly based in the Stirling Dynamics Bristol office with occasional travel to clients’ sites as required. Flexible working options are available, including hybrid, fully remote, or working from the offices of our parent company, Expleo, in Preston or Derby.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and engineering expertise to deliver DO-254 projects through to certification.
  • Plan, design, specify, verify, and validate electronic controllers for electromechanical aerospace systems.

Qualifications

  • An engineering degree, ideally with an electronics bias, or relevant experience.

Skills

  • Professional attitude and good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Enjoys teamwork and collaboration.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple requirements.
  • Pragmatic, systematic, and self-motivated.

Experience

  • At least 5 years of aerospace product development experience on DO-254 projects.
  • Experience at Senior or Principal Engineer level.
  • Deriving and specifying hardware requirements.
  • Design and specification of system electronics architecture, including simple and complex electronics.
  • Experience with power electronics, motor drive design, and FPGA-based systems.
  • Knowledge of DO-254 planning, development phases, and SOI audits.
  • Applied knowledge of DO-160 and CAN communication interface electronics.
  • Experience with electromechanical position sensors like LVDT, RVDT, and encoders.
