Position Details:

  • Title: Machinist III
  • Location: 21601 76th Ave S, Kent, WA – 98032
  • Duration: 12 Months (possible extension)

Shift Details:

  • B Shift -- Mon – Thu, 3:00 PM – 1:30 AM
  • D Shift -- Fri – Sun, 5:00 PM – 5:30 AM

Job Description:

  • As part of a diverse and hardworking team of Machinists, NC Programmers and Technicians, you will setup, operate and maintain world-class, state-of-the-art CNC machines to fabricate components for various spaceflight systems.
  • You will contribute to all aspects of CNC machining and fabrication.
  • You will be responsible for setting up and operating a variety of CNC machines to produce accurate components, ensuring first article success on tight tolerance, high-value parts.

Responsibilities:

  • Hands-on programming, setup, and machining of 3, 4, and 5 axis mills, multi-axis lathes, and development of critical machining processes.
  • Collaborate with engineering to document and standardize production processes; ensure product quality and conformance to specifications.
  • Partner with leadership and engineering to prioritize work based on production schedules and organizational goals, impacting space flight programs.
  • Apply technical expertise, leadership skills, and a commitment to quality to support safe human spaceflight, aligning with our mission and vision.

Qualifications:

  • Passion for our mission: supporting millions living and working in space.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience machining aerospace components.
  • Experience machining materials like Inconel, Monel, Copper, Aluminum, and Titanium.
  • Extensive experience with CNC machines such as Mazak, Kuraki, Hermle, OM, and DMG Mori.
  • Proficiency with 3, 4, and 5 axis CNC machining on mills and lathes.
  • Working knowledge of CNC controls like Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain, Mazatrol.
  • Excellent blueprint reading skills, including GD&T per ASME Y14.5M-1994.
  • Familiarity with personal computers and providing Design for Manufacturing feedback.
  • Physical ability to climb ladders, work in restricted areas, and lift 25 lbs.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain professional relationships, and contribute to a positive culture.

Desired Skills:

  • Tooling and fixture design; VTL experience.
  • Knowledge of heat treatment, plating, coating, EDM, grinding, etc.
  • CMM programming and operation; conversational programming skills.
  • CNC programming skills using Mastercam X6-X2018 or Unigraphics NX.
  • Experience operating heavy lifting equipment such as cranes and forklifts.
