Job summary

Meritus Talent is recruiting a Laboratory Specialist in North Wales for an aerospace and advanced manufacturing partner. You will perform hands-on chemical analysis, test processes, and support product trials in an industrial setting.

The role involves close collaboration with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure processes stay within specification. The position is fully onsite with rotating early and late shifts, and a 12-month contract with potential extension.

Qualifications

• BSc or MSc in Chemistry or equivalent
• Hands-on laboratory experience in an industrial/manufacturing setting
• Experience conducting chemical analysis and sample preparation
• Knowledge of analytical techniques (IC, ICP, XRF, FTIR) and testing principles
• Ability to interpret technical specs and standards (ASTM, ISO, AMS)
• Strong communication and reporting skills
• Familiarity with COSHH and risk assessments

Responsibilities

• Conduct chemical analysis of surface treatment and rinse tanks, effluent, sealants and hydraulic fluids
• Lead laboratory trials for new products and processes before production
• Operate, calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment
• Prepare and dilute samples for testing and report results to engineering teams
• Support investigations into non-conformance and deviations
• Develop and maintain laboratory procedures and documentation
• Interpret engineering drawings and industry standards to define testing requirements
• Ensure testing aligns with relevant ASTM, ISO, AMS standards
