Job summary

GE Aerospace invites applications for a Calibration Apprentice within the Dowty Facilities. The role supports a 4‑year apprenticeship to achieve Calibration Technician status, combining college training with hands‑on maintenance of aerospace equipment.

You will work across the facility gaining live experience while progressing through structured years of study. You’ll attend college, complete mandatory training, and work under mentors to develop technical skills in instrumentation and control

Qualifications

• 4x GCSEs (incl Maths and English) at grade C/4 or above.
• 3x A-Levels (Maths or Engineering) at grade C or above.
• Level 3 qualification in Engineering/Manufacturing.
• Pass an entry exam and assessment day.

Responsibilities

• Plan calibration checks and Preventative Maintenance on production equipment and site services.
• Diagnose faults and perform recalibration with First Time Fix mindset to minimise downtime.
• Record calibration results with full traceability in engineering systems and quality documentation.
• Provide clear handovers to engineering colleagues, ensuring calibration status is communicated.
• Uphold health and safety; support initiatives to improve safety culture.
• Participate in process and cost improvements to enhance equipment reliability.
• Stay updated on calibration standards and traceability to national/international standards.
