Job summary

The Atlassian Williams F1 Team invites applications for a 12-month Industrial Placement within the Aerodynamic Test Facilities, focusing on operating and developing wind tunnel capabilities at our Grove, Oxfordshire campus.

The role suits students with Electrical or Mechatronic Engineering backgrounds who want hands-on experience in electro-mechanical projects, data analysis, and cross-disciplinary collaboration while contributing to high-performance testing and on-track performance.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Operate the wind tunnel and support wind tunnel projects on a rotating shift.

Job description

The Aerodynamic Test Facilities department are responsible for the operation and development of the state-of-the-art Wind Tunnel Facilities within Williams. Our team of multidiscipline engineers actively seek new technology and solutions to continuously improve our testing methodologies to ensure the highest quality experiments and enhance our on-track performance.

On this 12-month placement you support the technical development of the Aerodynamic Test Facilities (ATF) and operating the team's wind tunnel.

This factory-based role uses your electronics and systems knowledge to deliver wind tunnel projects, from concept and development through to operational use. You work in a supportive, collaborative team on systems that improve how the Wind Tunnel operates, focusing on skills that directly develop the wind tunnel model and facility.

• You will be trained on how the Wind Tunnel operates and be trusted in operating the facility as part of a rotating shift schedule
• Create and develop applications and electro-mechanical projects to improve test technique and capability
• Apply analytical thinking and problem solving to technical challenges and testing
• Collaborate across departments and communicate with multi-disciplinary teams
• Take part in Early Careers learning throughout the placement
