A technical role responsible for supporting Mace in the development of HMT Greenbook 5-dimension business cases, feasibility studies, and associated documents and reports, including supporting financial and economic modelling across all development stages (strategic, outline and full business case).

The postholder will be accountable for providing calculations to support financial and economic outputs, writing documents to present outputs for senior manager review, and providing support in the drafting of sections of the business case, where relevant to their skills and experience.

Business case and/or organisational experience within the transport, health or energy sectors would be advantageous.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Working with the Mace project team or senior lead in a technical advisory or delivery role to develop financial and economic models for feasibility studies and different stages of the business case.
  • Accountable for providing calculations to support financial and economic outputs, drafting/writing documents to present the outputs for senior manager review, and providing support in drafting different sections of the business case, where relevant to their skills and experience.
  • Proficient use of MS Office Excel for analysis, Word and PowerPoint for document development, to support Mace senior manager in delivering high quality reports, presentations and outputs.
  • Assisting in the generation of project options and proposal developments, effectively utilizing data and information from multiple sources.
  • Working as part of a team, supporting day to day activities to support Mace senior management in achieving commission milestones.
  • Developing positive relationships and strong communication networks within the advisory and relevant sector teams, support client relationship management activities related to technical area or sector, and contribute to business development, work winning and continuous improvement through sharing experience and skills to support the identification of new opportunities and ways of works.

You’ll need to have:

  • Basic analytical skills - use of Excel and external data sources.
  • Working towards technical qualification or chartership.
  • Use of standard document software.
  • One technical skill related to property or infrastructure.
  • Basic experience of applying technical skills in a consultancy environment.
  • Experience of stakeholder management skills on less complex projects.
  • Some experience of conducting structured or semi-structured interviews relating to general and a specialist subject matter.
  • Good presentation skills and ability to produce quality reports and visuals.
  • Ability to work on one or more projects or subject matter concurrently.
  • Ability to work under pressure to achieve tight deadlines outside of the control of the project team.
  • Ability to structure own work programme and support a senior consultant producing output in a specialist subject area.
  • Good level of technical specialist capability and ability to explain to other team members in an accessible way.
  • Basic understanding of or experience in the capabilities required to undertake specialist/technical consultancy at a strategic level.
