Job summary

SSE Renewables in the UK and Ireland seeks to maximise the value of its growing portfolio of renewable generation and storage assets. You will coordinate Capacity Market and system services across GB and Ireland, ensuring qualification, optimisation and compliance while protecting revenue.

Working with development, operations, finance, commercial and regulatory teams, you will drive governance, reporting and opportunities to improve commercial performance through market participation and risk

Responsibilities

• Lead qualification, application and auction activities across Capacity Market and system services schemes, ensuring submissions are completed accurately and on time.
• Manage ongoing contractual, regulatory and operational obligations to protect revenue streams and minimise commercial and compliance risk.
• Coordinate multiple stakeholders across development, operational and commercial teams to ensure assets remain eligible, compliant and operationally ready.
• Develop and maintain robust governance, assurance and reporting processes, ensuring all activities are fully documented and audit ready.
• Identify opportunities to enhance commercial performance through optimisation activities, market participation strategies and risk management initiatives.

Job description

Base Location:

Perth, Glasgow, Inverness, Aberdeen, Reading, Belfast or Dublin. You'll be expected to spend at least 50% of your working week from one of these locations, although other SSE Renewables locations may be considered.

Salary:

£51,600 - £77,400/€65,300 - €97,900 + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in maximising the value of SSE Renewables' growing portfolio of renewable generation and storage assets. You'll act as the central point of coordination for Capacity Market and system services activities across Great Britain and Ireland, helping ensure our assets are successfully qualified, optimised and compliant while protecting millions of pounds of contracted revenue.

Working across development, operations, finance, commercial and regulatory teams, you'll influence the delivery of over 2GW of renewable and flexible generation assets, supporting the energy transition through effective participation in some of the most important electricity market mechanisms in the UK and Ireland.

You will

• Lead qualification, application and auction activities across Capacity Market and system services schemes, ensuring submissions are completed accurately and on time.
• Manage ongoing contractual, regulatory and operational obligations to protect revenue streams and minimise commercial and compliance risk.
• Coordinate multiple stakeholders across development, operational and commercial teams to ensure assets remain eligible, compliant and operationally ready.
• Develop and maintain robust governance, assurance and reporting processes, ensuring all activities are fully documented and audit ready.
• Identify opportunities to enhance commercial performance through optimisation activities, market participation strategies and risk management initiatives.

You have

• Experience managing complex commercial, contractual, regulatory or compliance-driven processes, ideally within the energy or utilities sector.
• Strong knowledge of electricity markets, energy regulation, ancillary services, capacity mechanisms or related commercial frameworks.
• Proven ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and deliver critical activities against fixed deadlines.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess commercial, operational and financial impacts.
• Strong organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills with a proactive approach to driving outcomes and continuous improvement.
