We exist to end the harm done through gender-based violence. Our aim is to work to prevent violence and abuse, as well as providing services to meet the individual needs of survivors, particularly women and children. Our work is holistic and empowering, working alongside survivors to achieve independent lives, free from abuse.
Our core values reflect our history and were developed in consultation with staff and service users. Feminism and intersectionality are key to our work and we are committed to the principles of being survivor-led, trauma-informed, empowering, diverse, anti-racist and anti-discriminatory.
About the Service
The Advice Team provide a specialist proactive service to survivors of Violence against Women and Girls (VAWG) through our advice line, covering 16 boroughs of London. This involves ongoing liaison with partner agencies and internal and external services, and supporting survivors, professionals and third parties with complex issues at all stages of risk. Within the service there are also specialist projects where survivors are supported with in-depth casework
About the Role
The role consists of working on our advice Line providing one-off short-term support to survivors, third parties and professionals and holding a small caseload completing longer term casework.
On the Advice Line you will participate in the rota to cover the phone line and respond to emails and referrals. You will work co-operatively with other services, including housing, immigration, children’s services, community organisations etc. to ensure the service is well promoted and women’s support needs are met.
As a caseworker you will carry out risk and needs assessments, safety planning, and individual support planning with survivors as well as advocating on their behalf with external agencies and providing in-depth case work
About You

You will be experienced in organising and prioritising a complex workload, working to tight deadlines and being self-directed. You will have the skills to identify and assess risk, problem-solve and communicate clearly, concisely and diplomatically with a range of people/organisations both verbally and in writing.
You will have a solid understanding of confidentiality and experience in providing trauma informed support whilst maintaining healthy boundaries. This is a great role if you’re interested in gaining experience and skills with supporting survivors in both the long and short term.
