Job description

Our Advice Line volunteers provide an important welcome to our services by helping people with our conditions work towards a personal goal.


Our Call Coordinator volunteers are the first point of contact for all correspondence coming into the Advice Line, welcoming people to Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland's services and ensuring enquiries are appropriately referred.


Volunteer from home for a minimum of one hour per week, between 9am and 4pm Monday to Friday. Our Call Coordinator role would suit someone with helpline or call centre experience, or someone studying towards a career in healthcare. We will provide all the training and support you need.


Join us as an Advice Line volunteer today and help improve the lives of people in Scotland affected by chest and heart conditions, Long Covid and stroke.

Experience required

Excellent listening and communication skills are essential for this role, as well as the ability to volunteer independently with guidance and support. Volunteers must understand the need for confidentiality and boundaries, and must be comfortable using IT equipment and databases for the purpose of the role (training and support will be provided).

This opportunity is home-based.

Travel expenses

Authorised out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed. These should be discussed with your line manager prior to outlay and must be submitted within the prescribed guidelines as detailed in the CHSS Volunteer Expenses Policy.

All necessary training will be provided, including: Safeguarding Adults (L2) E-Learning; Conditions Awareness training; GDPR UK: Essentials E-Learning; Cyber Security Awareness E-Learning; and Roles & Boundaries training.

Restrictions

Minimum age: 18
To undertake your role, you must be age 18 or over. In line with our commitment to safeguarding, this role is subject to membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Adults) Scheme in Scotland (PVG).

Volunteers are needed for shifts 9:00am – 4.00 pm Monday to Friday.
