[About the Role]
Reporting to the Philanthropy Manager and working very closely with the Director of Advancement, this role will provide day-to-day administrative support for the Advancement team. The role will support the team in arranging meetings with internal and external colleagues and partners; minute taking; managing expenses and tracking departmental budgets; arranging national and international travel; managing the general alumni and philanthropy inboxes, supporting the Advancement Operations function with data entry tasks, and providing additional administrative support as required. The role will also work with colleagues across the team to support a range of varied administrative activities and project work.
[About the Department]
We are an energetic, creative and committed Advancement team with significant success in raising philanthropic income year on year and engaging alumni and key stakeholders around the world. As part of the Directorate, Advancement’s work is central to SOAS’ strategic plan and we work closely with the Vice-Chancellor and his office to deliver core objectives in generating philanthropic income and increasing alumni engagement. The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting Advancement to deliver these key strategic goals.
[About you]
A well-organised administrator and excellent communicator, you will have a positive, solutions-driven approach to your role, with a can-do attitude, and be able to operate under your own initiative to see projects through to a successful conclusion. You will be the first point of contact for initial enquiries in the office and provide customer-focused service to academic and professional services colleagues internally, and donors and volunteers externally. You will also be responsible for coordinating changes on the Advancement website; assisting with donor and alumni activities; and assisting with developing letters and campaign material to high level donors and prospects.
