  • Accept case referrals from Pre-Assessment and provide expert opinion on medicine issues.
  • Provide a framework for medicines governance, including auditing activities within perioperative services, ensuring monitoring and adherence.
  • Plan, manage, prescribe, monitor and review therapeutic programmes, demonstrating expert clinical knowledge in management of perioperative medicines, some of which may be complex.
  • Line manage a member of the pharmacy team and be part of the senior pharmacy team.
  • Monitor and report on drug expenditure for perioperative services.

Experience & Competencies

As an experienced senior prescribing pharmacist, you will be required to establish key relationships quickly; develop and take ownership and accountability for implementing clinical pharmacy processes that run smoothly; lead on the generation of guidelines, projects, audits and service improvements related to medicines and antimicrobials, as well as support the Trust with its Green Plan within Theatres. You must have self-motivation, enthusiasm, ability to lead with minimal direction, clear, sound judgement, practice evidence-based medicine, broad general clinical pharmacy knowledge and skills and be willing to lead from the front.
