Job summary

The Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) in Coventry seeks a hands-on Laser Technician for a strategic customer programme. You will develop machine parameters, program DMG LASERTEC equipment, and ensure production meets engineering specifications, deadlines and quality standards.

• Experience operating CNC and/or laser machining equipment or similar advanced manufacturing equipment.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes, engineering principles, and production workflows.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and work instructions.
• Demonstrable knowledge of Health & Safety practices, risk awareness, and safe working procedures within a manufacturing environment.
• Practical, hands-on capability with machinery and equipment, with a strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn new processes and technologies.
• Experience conducting in-process inspections and verifying component quality against specification.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing work to exacting quality standards.
• Good problem solving skills, with the ability to identify, troubleshoot, and elevate machine, process, or quality issues effectively.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of Manufacturing Operations, the role works closely with Manufacturing Engineers, Project Managers, Programme Managers, and customers to support project delivery. The role carries responsibility for machine operation, process adherence, and quality output.

The position requires a self-motivated individual who can work independently, manage workload effectively, and respond to changing priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. A proactive, detail-oriented approach is essential, with the ability to troubleshoot issues, maintain high standards of quality, and contribute to the successful delivery of customer projects.

Main Responsibilities:

• Operate and programme DMG LASERTEC machinery in accordance with customer specifications, engineering drawings, and manufacturing requirements.
