Job description

Are you an enthusiastic and experienced Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children’s learning and development? If so, join committed team at a Primary School in Skelton-in-Cleveland as an Advanced Teaching Assistant, starting in September 2025.

As an Advanced Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the academic and personal development of pupils across the school. You will work closely with teachers to deliver high-quality learning experiences, including leading small group interventions, supporting pupils with additional needs, and contributing to the wider life of the school.

Advanced Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with special educational needs.
  • Provide high-level classroom support under the direction of the class teacher.
  • Assist teachers in planning and delivering lessons.
  • Deliver targeted intervention programs to individuals and small groups.
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress, providing constructive feedback to teaching staff.
  • Use specialist strategies to manage behavior and promote positive interactions.
  • Supervise students during activities, ensuring their safety and wellbeing at all times.

Advanced Teaching Assistant Requirements:

  • A relevant Level 3 (or higher) qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent.
  • Specialism in SEN and/or EAL is desirable.
  • Experience working with primary-aged children in a classroom or early years setting.
  • A strong understanding of SEN and strategies for supporting students with diverse learning requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • An Enhanced DBS registered on the update service or willingness to apply for a new one through GSL Education.
