We are looking for an outstanding individual who is enthusiastic, dynamic and inspirational to join our Inclusion team as an Advanced Teaching Assistant. The successful candidate will take the lead on Social Communication interventions such as Lego Therapy, ELSA and the use of Communication Cartoons, so experience of working in this area of SEND is required. Collaboration and communication within the Inclusion and SEND team is essential as the role supports our most vulnerable to thrive in all aspects of their education.

As an Advanced Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with members of our Inclusion team and will have the energy and creativity to develop and inspire students' learning, life skills, and personalized outcomes.

A key focus will be to support student provision and increase their ability to access all areas of the curriculum and school life. You will provide specific interventions that support our students’ communication and interaction skills, responding to provisions linked to EHCPs and SEND Support plans.

The successful candidates will support students in all necessary provisions. Examples of your responsibilities include:

  1. Taking responsibility for a caseload of students inside and outside the classroom during structured or unstructured time.
  2. Assessing students' needs and using detailed knowledge and skills to support their educational progress and prepare them for adulthood.
  3. Delivering intervention programs to individuals and small groups, creating relevant and appropriate learning experiences in collaboration with department staff. A focus will be on emotional literacy and social skills.
  4. Tracking and monitoring student life skill targets and EHCP outcomes, discussing progress with parents, and setting new targets at Interim Reviews.

The ideal candidate must have Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths or equivalent, a Level 3 qualification related to working with children and young people, strong IT skills, good communication skills, approachability, and a positive attitude towards staff and students.
