We are delighted to be able to offer an exciting opportunity for a dynamic Band 7 Speech and Language Therapist to join our friendly team on ARTU as a part of the wider Speech & Language Therapy team at the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust (UHNM).
The post is a 9 month secondment opportunity and would provide an ideal supported opportunity for someone ready to develop their clinical leadership skills and expand their clinical practice in rehabilitation.
The post holder will be responsible for providing Speech and Language Therapy to patients on the Acute Rehabilitation and Trauma Unit (ARTU) at the Royal Stoke University Hospital. This is a dynamic post that requires the post holder to work closely with the multi-disciplinary team, providing assessment and rehabilitation for patients with a range of communication and swallowing difficulties and addressing a range of care/support issues across a spectrum of conditions, including acquired brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, and other polytrauma injuries. The role also includes patients with tracheostomies and specialised rehabilitation needs.
The postholder will support the goal-planning process for specialised rehabilitation patients, with input into goal planning meetings and discharge planning, sometimes acting as keyworker. They will also provide clinical leadership within the ARTU and SLT team, including supervision.
