Job description

Are you an enthusiastic, motivated, and dynamic clinical pharmacist looking to work within the Major Trauma Centre for Devon, Cornwall, the Isles of Scilly, and surrounding parts of the West Country, offering tertiary services across various surgical and medical specialties?

We are seeking a dedicated Clinical Pharmacist to:
  1. Oversee the clinical pharmacy service on our new Major Trauma Ward, enhancing trauma care.
  2. Work towards credentialing for a consultant post and utilize your skills as a non-medical prescriber within the Surgery Care Group.
  3. Join an innovative Pharmacy Department with an ambitious 5-year strategy approved by the Trust Board.

For more information, including details on the Recruitment and Retention Payment and/or the Relocation Allowance, please contact Vivek.soni@nhs.net.

Candidates who meet the qualifications but do not yet demonstrate full knowledge or experience required at Band 8a will still be considered as a Band 7 to Band 8a progression opportunity, with support provided to achieve the necessary milestones.

Main duties of the job
  1. Provide high-quality, patient-focused clinical pharmacy services within Major Trauma and Trauma & Orthopaedic service lines.
  2. Develop a clinical interest in a specific area to support these services.
  3. Lead the ward-based pharmacy team and collaborate with the Surgery Pharmacy team.
  4. Teach and supervise pharmacy staff and other healthcare professionals.
  5. Offer specialist clinical advice, demonstrating high clinical effectiveness.
  6. Support further study and practice research; contribute to policy development.

This post offers a Recruitment & Retention Premia of £5,000 (paid upon appointment for 36 months) and a relocation allowance, subject to eligibility. The RRP is for external candidates and pro-rated for part-time staff.

Preference will be given to internal Trust staff and those with 'Priority' and 'At Risk' status, including NHS At Risk staff in Devon, with relevant recent experience as per the Person Specification.
