Job Description:

About the Role

An opportunity exists to join Rochdale Borough Council mental health service as an Advanced Practitioner Social Worker. This post is focused on delivery of the Adult Social Care agenda within mental health, whilst working in partnership with Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust (PCFT).

The post is based within one of the Community Mental Health Teams (CMHT) covering Rochdale.

This post is fulltime and permanent.

About you

The post holder will act as a lead for social care in the Community Mental Health Team, providing leadership, management and supervision to social workers and support planners in the team, and supporting staff in the delivery of statutory work in social care eg: personalised commissioning of services to meet individual complex mental health needs. The post requires a working knowledge of the Care Act 2014 and allied legislation in working with Adults and mental health.

This is also an excellent opportunity for experienced Social Workers who have a working knowledge and understanding of mental health conditions, secondary mental health care pathways, social care interventions and experience of undertaking work in a formal supervisory capacity.

This post is ideal for Social Workers who feel ready for a career development move.

Professional requirements:

Registered with Social Work England

The post-holder will either be a qualified practising AMHP or if not, be already on the AMHP training pathway or be willing to train. For qualified AMHPs an allowance is paid (subject to conditions)

In addition, you must either be a qualified Best Interest Assessor (BIA), or be willing to train as a BIA to support the rota.

Knowledge and Skills required:

As a qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England, you will have experience of working in adult social care and/or a mental health setting and have a good working knowledge of relevant legislation and procedural frameworks related to the Care Act 2014, Mental Health Act 1983 (as amended 2007), Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Safeguarding work.

Your significant experience of working in Adult Social Care and working with individuals with severe mental health needs, means you will be experienced in managing complex risk and making decisions in a pressurised environment.

Knowledge and skills of working in a supervisory capacity, working with a wide range of partners and a working knowledge of quality assurance frameworks and measures are also part of the role.

The offer:

Regular supervision and continual professional development opportunities from a supportive Social Care mental health management team.

Training and career development opportunities may for example include: AMHP training, BIA training, Practice Educator training, opportunities to support student placements, ASYE and support staff through social Work progression pathways.

Applicants, who already have an AMHP qualification, will have the opportunity to practice as part of a rota that supports those AMHPs who are based within the dedicated AMHP Hub. There is regular professional supervision available to all AMHPs, access to AMHP refresher training, and management support. (An allowance paid £2025 p.a., is available for applicants who are qualified, practising Approved Mental Health Professionals (AMHPs) subject to certain requirements).

Applicants who are already a qualified Best Interest Assessor, will have the opportunity to take part on the BIA rota.
