Job summary

Service Care Solutions are seeking an experienced Advanced Social Worker to join a newly established Children’s Court Team pilot service on a 12-month contract. You will manage complex care proceedings, provide expert court evidence, and contribute to high-quality assessments and care planning for vulnerable children.

The role requires 5+ years post-qualifying experience, registration with Social Work England, a full driving licence, and willingness to travel to our client across an island

Qualifications

• Recognised Social Work qualification.
• Current Social Work England registration and eligibility for the client.
• Minimum 5 years’ post-qualifying experience in statutory Children’s Social Care.
• Significant experience managing care proceedings and providing evidence in court.
• Strong direct work skills with children, young people and families.
• Excellent safeguarding knowledge, risk assessment and care planning.
• Proven experience preparing detailed court reports and assessments.
• Full, clean driving licence and willingness to travel across our client island.
• Enhanced DBS, preferably with Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Managing a complex caseload of children subject to care proceedings from initiation to conclusion.
• Leading legal proceedings with professional evidence and court recommendations.
• Producing high-quality court statements, assessments and care plans.
• Conducting comprehensive parenting and risk assessments, safeguarding interventions.
• Developing and implementing effective care plans promoting safety and wellbeing.
• Providing expert input into complex cases and modelling best practice within the team.
• Applying trauma-informed, strengths-based approaches and motivational interviewing techniques.
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and partner agencies.
• Supporting permanency planning and delivery of court-approved care plans.
• Maintaining accurate case records and meeting statutory deadlines.
• Contributing to the growth of the Court Team pilot service.

Candidate Requirements

• Recognised Social Work qualification.
• Current Social Work England registration and our client Care Commission eligibility.
• A minimum of 5 years’ post-qualifying experience within statutory Children’s Social Care.
• Significant experience managing care proceedings and providing evidence in court.
• Strong skills in direct work with children, young people, and families.
• Excellent knowledge of safeguarding legislation, risk assessment, and care planning.
• Proven experience preparing detailed court reports and assessments.
• Effective communication, analytical, and decision-making skills.
• Full, clean manual driving license and willingness to travel across our client.
• Enhanced DBS, preferably registered with the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.

Benefits & Salary

• Rate of £42.00 per hour.
• Travel to our client (flight or ferry), with accommodation arranged by the service.
• One flight or ferry journey at start and end of contract covered.
