Overview

Advanced Social Work Practitioner – Fostering – Location: South Yorkshire. Pay Rate: £37 per hour.

Are you a skilled and passionate Qualified Social Worker with advanced experience in Fostering? We’re looking for an Advanced Social Work Practitioner to join a dedicated Fostering Team in South Yorkshire. This is a vital role where you will help deliver high-quality, child-focused social work in line with the Children Act 1989 and other key legislation, ensuring the welfare, safety, and development of children in care.

Responsibilities
  • Fulfil statutory duties under relevant legislation to safeguard and promote the wellbeing of children.
  • Undertake complex assessments and develop effective care and support plans.
  • Deliver direct work with children and families to achieve positive, sustainable change.
  • Support children subject to Child in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP) planning, and court proceedings.
  • Work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams and build strong partnerships with external agencies.
  • Participate in monthly individual and group reflective supervision to support your professional development.
What We’re Looking For
  • Qualified Social Worker (BA/MA in Social Work or equivalent)
  • Registered with Social Work England
  • Minimum 2 years\' post-qualification experience, with advanced-level practice in fostering
  • Proven experience in:
    • Child Protection, CIN, and Court Work
    • Assessing risks and needs within child and family settings
    • Direct work with children and families from vulnerable groups
  • Strong knowledge of child protection legislation and safeguarding issues
  • Skilled in mediation, negotiation, and building meaningful relationships
  • Creative, flexible, and committed to continuous improvement
  • Confident working within inter-agency, multi-disciplinary teams
Key Responsibilities
  • Make full assessments of risk, protection, and care needs.
  • Manage a varied caseload with a focus on achieving the best outcomes for children.
  • Develop and implement individual care and support plans that promote empowerment and reflect diversity.
  • Use specialist communication and relationship-building skills to engage families in meaningful interventions.
