Do you have significant experience working within a physical health setting or have a foundation degree in Rehabilitation or similar and looking for your next challenge? If so, this could be your next career move.

We have an exciting role working alongside our physiotherapists & occupational therapists in our therapy teams. We are looking for someone dynamic, enthusiastic and motivated to support the team in providing therapy services on the acute hospital wards.

This role will involve working closely with the multidisciplinary team, assessing and treating patients with a wide range of presentations. You should be adaptable, flexible and enjoy working as part of a large friendly team in a busy environment. The current vacancy is in the Older Persons team.

Main duties of the job

To support the Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy teams within the Older People’s Services in providing high quality patient-centered care.

Person specification

Qualifications

  • GCSE Maths and English or a good standard of written English, numeracy and IT skills
  • Formal technical qualification, e.g., City & Guilds, or NVQ in a health-related field, or equivalent skills acquired through in-service development or experience.
  • Foundation degree in rehabilitation or equivalent through in-service development or experience.

Experience

  • Relevant experience working as a therapy assistant in an acute physical health setting
  • Extensive experience working with patients with complex healthcare needs in a rehabilitation setting
  • Experience working with patients from diverse multicultural communities
  • Experience of using highly skilled handling to facilitate client movement and/or rehabilitation
  • Experience of transferring learned skills to a practical environment
  • NHS experience

Knowledge

  • Good knowledge of medical terminology
  • Good knowledge of medical conditions and a proven ability to expand and develop this knowledge within Older People’s Services
  • Understanding of the impact of disability and aging
  • Knowledge of the needs of different ethnic minority groups
  • Ability to write clear, concise, and legally compliant medical records to national standards
  • Experience of working without direct supervision, with the ability to make decisions about patient management
