Join a leading healthcare provider as a Sonographer in Hereford, where you will be part of a multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality ultrasound services across acute and community settings. This role offers a chance to shape patient-centered care and develop your professional skills in a supportive environment.
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Sonographer to join our team to work in the Acute Hospital, Community settings, and the new Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC), as part of the wider initiative to improve access to diagnostic services closer to home. This is an exciting opportunity to shape a high-quality, patient-centred ultrasound service within a range of settings.
The Community Diagnostic Centre will incorporate imaging (Plain, X-ray, Ultrasound, CT, and MRI), a range of cardiorespiratory investigations including echocardiography, ECG, rhythm monitoring, blood pressure monitoring, spirometry, FeNO, lung function tests, simple field tests, sleep investigations, oximetry, blood gas analysis, and pathology services in a "one-stop" location to obtain diagnostic information in cancer, cardiac, respiratory, musculoskeletal, and other conditions. For more information about the CDC visit: https://www.wyevalley.nhs.uk/work-with-us/community-diagnostic-centre.aspx
The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering timely and accurate ultrasound imaging for a range of clinical indications, including abdominal, pelvic, small parts, obstetric, and musculoskeletal (depending on experience).
Come and join our friendly team as an Advanced Practitioner in Ultrasound at Hereford Hospital, part of Wye Valley NHS Trust.
The Imaging department is in the eighth year of a 10-year Managed Equipment Service partnership with Philips Healthcare, which has resulted in new equipment and redevelopment works to create an improved working environment benefiting both patients and staff.
Our ultrasound service is provided within the acute hospital, community hospital, and the newly built CDC, providing variety; the successful candidate will rotate around all areas. Sonographers undertake a comprehensive range of ultrasound examinations, including abdominal, gynaecological, obstetric, vascular, and small parts. We are keen to extend the scope of practice for sonographers and would welcome candidates with experience in other modalities. We are also delivering a 7-day service, and flexibility of hours will be considered.
Good organisational and communication skills are essential to ensure efficient and safe workflow. You will also be expected to participate in audits and our established quality assurance programme to develop the team and department. The department has a rich history of staff development, and our five-year strategy will continue to build on this.
Previous applicants need not apply.
For an informal visit, please contact Rose-Marie Jones, Lead Sonographer via email Rose-Marie.Jones@wvt.nhs.uk or Leah Hughes, Operational Lead Radiographer.
