Key Areas of Responsibility & Accountability

Clinical: To practice autonomously without direct supervision. To utilise advanced clinical skills to assess, diagnose, treat, and refer patients requiring the clinical service. To recognise the need for, initiate, and interpret relevant diagnostic investigations. To recognise the need for and initiate advice of relevant specialisms. To exhibit excellent communication skills when dealing with patients and carers. To make clear decisions with confidence and communicate these effectively. To maintain clinical records in line with current guidelines. To work within your skills and knowledge, recognising your limitations and working within your training and capability. To stay updated on developments in clinical practice and optimise evidence-based practice. To work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. To adhere to performance measures and promote health and accident prevention advice. To promote safeguarding and adhere to infection prevention policies. To prescribe medication within legal limitations. To discharge or refer patients appropriately. To handle medicines safely and legally.

Managerial: Participate in clinical audits, attend meetings, support policy implementation, lead clinical audits, participate in inductions, supervise staff, participate in appraisals, address performance issues, manage challenging behavior, ensure resource efficiency, and make resource recommendations.

Clinical Governance: Engage in clinical governance activities, practice within policies, participate in quality improvement, evaluate practice outcomes, provide mentorship, ensure health and safety compliance, and participate in research activities.

Practice Development: Engage in clinical supervision, advise on care practices, participate in professional development, mentor junior staff, and complete mandatory training.

Professional: Work within regulatory standards, maintain competence, promote confidence and trust, and uphold the organisation’s reputation.

Communications and Working Relationships: Collaborate with various health and social care leaders, teams, and services within the local health economy.
