Job responsibilities

Practicing autonomously without direct supervision across the four pillars of advanced practice: clinical practice, leadership and management, education, and research.

Utilising advanced clinical skills to assess, diagnose, treat, and refer patients requiring clinical services.

Recognising the need for, initiating, and where appropriate, interpreting relevant diagnostic investigations.

Recognising the need for, and initiating, advice from relevant specialisms where appropriate.

Exhibiting excellent nonverbal and verbal communication skills when dealing with patients and carers. The ability to make clear decisions with confidence and communicate these effectively.

Maintaining appropriate clinical records in line with current practice guidelines.

Working within the parameters of your skills and knowledge, recognising the limitations of your own practice, and working within the bounds of your training and capability according to regulatory codes of conduct.

Person Specification
Experience
  • Substantial autonomous practice working within a multi-professional team
  • Evidence of using autonomous physical examination and assessment skills in practice
  • Broad and sound knowledge of complex and common conditions in primary care in both adults and children
  • Experience in one of the following: nurse-led clinics, emergency care centres, out-of-hours facilities, or walk-in centres
  • Consolidated Independent Prescribing experience
  • Use of examination skills in practice
  • Experience of telephone triage
  • Experience of Emergency Care
  • Experience of General Practice
Qualifications
  • Registered Adult Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC), Paramedic with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC), or Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
  • Registered as an independent non-medical prescriber
  • Educated to Masters level or equivalent
  • MSc (Advanced Practice)
