Ackerman Pierce is supporting a leading local authority in Lewisham to recruit an Advanced Practitioner in the Child Protection Team. This is a permanent position offering a salary of £54,684 - £56,733 per annum.
Responsibilities include:
- Work closely with the Lead Operational Manager and Principal Social Worker to address learning needs, facilitate relevant training, and monitor CPD requirements.
- Lead in a specialist area of practice aligned with service needs, including the Assessed and Supported Year in Experience (ASYE) and other core practice areas.
- Undertake complex adult mental health case work to achieve the best outcomes for adults, requiring high social work expertise.
- Supervise, support, advise, and mentor students, Newly Qualified, and less experienced staff in complex/high-risk cases, including authorising assessments and chairing multidisciplinary meetings.
- Support and mentor Senior Social Workers to ensure compliance with legislation, guidance, and practice standards, especially regarding safeguarding adults.
- Model and promote relationship-based, evidence-based, and reflective practice in line with the service's values and standards.
- Encourage effective participation and engagement with individuals with lived experience and their carers, seeking feedback to improve outcomes.
- Collaborate with the Lead Operational Manager, Principal Social Worker, and other Advanced Practitioners to create learning opportunities and ensure access to training.
- Take a lead role in a specialist practice area such as domestic abuse, court work, mental capacity, or family group conferences.
- Co-facilitate supervision, reflective practice, and development sessions within the team.
- Act as a practice leader and Safeguarding Adults Manager, contributing to updates and working with MASH and safeguarding leads to improve practice.
- Serve as a Practice Educator, undertaking PEPS within the first 6 months, and provide learning opportunities within the team.
- Support social workers in writing complex reports, including court and MH Tribunals reports.
- Deputise for the Manager when required.
- Assist in performance management and quality assurance improvements.
- Undertake duties as an Approved Mental Health Professional or Best Interest Assessor if qualified.
Experience Required:
- Social work qualification and registration with Social Work England.
- Minimum of 2 years’ senior experience in Mental Health Social Work.
- At least two years’ post-qualifying experience working with children and families or demonstrated expertise at a senior level.
