Gloucestershire County Council is recruiting for a Permanent Advanced Practitioner to join their Children & Families teams. This role offers an exciting opportunity for Senior Social Workers seeking career progression or Advanced Practitioners looking to join a nurturing and supportive council.

Benefits: £4,000 welcome payment and an annual retention payment of £2,000.

Hours: Full Time (36 hours)

Contract Type: Permanent

About the Role

The key responsibilities include working collaboratively with the Team Manager to:

  • Manage a protected caseload of up to 8 children and young people with complex needs
  • Supervise and oversee Trainee and Newly Qualified Social Workers
  • Lead quality control, assurance, and improvement activities
  • Promote performance activities within the team
Responsibilities and Duties
  • Demonstrate exemplary social work practice in line with Social Work England standards
  • Ensure compliance with statutory guidance, legislation, and policies
  • Deliver effective social work to improve outcomes for children and families
  • Manage a caseload of children and young people with complex needs
  • Undertake direct work with children, young people, and families
  • Assess and review risks to ensure safety and wellbeing
Experience
  • Children and families statutory social work experience
  • Supervisory, mentoring, coaching, or training experience
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience creating a learning environment
  • Experience chairing meetings and attending court

Relocation allowance (up to £8,000) available for successful candidates relocating from overseas or the outer southeast area.

Additional requirements:

  • Social Work England registration
  • Evidence of continuous professional development
  • Practice educator qualification (or working towards)
  • Full driving licence and willingness to drive
