Position: Advanced Practitioner
Location: Darlington Borough Council
Hourly Rate: £34

Darlington Borough Council is excited to offer a unique opportunity for an experienced and passionate Social Worker to join us as an Advanced Practitioner as part of an innovative pilot project.

As part of the forthcoming national social care reforms, we are piloting a new approach in which Family Workers will hold Child in Need (CIN) cases within our locality teams. This pilot aims to test and shape how frontline services can evolve to better meet the needs of families.

About the Role:

• Providing weekly supervision to Family Workers and ensuring quality casework Oversight of CIN cases, maintaining a clear focus on the safety and wellbeing of children Escalating risk concerns to Team Managers where appropriate Supporting quality assurance across assessments, plans, and recording Observing and mentoring practice through joint visits with Family Workers

What We’re Looking For:

• A qualified and experienced Social Worker, registered with Social Work England
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills
• Experience in child protection and CIN work
• Ability to inspire and support developing practitioners
• A proactive approach to change and innovation in children’s social care
