The Royal Hospital for Children, part of NHSGGC Pharmacy Services, is hosting the Scottish National Paediatric Stem Cell Transplant (HSCT) and Cellular Therapy service, providing care for children in Scotland with rare conditions requiring HSCT. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Advanced Practice Pharmacist specializing in HSCT/Cellular Therapy and Paediatric Haematology/Oncology to join the pharmacy team at the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow.
The Pharmacist role within the HSCT service is crucial to delivering high-quality care as per the National Service specification. The Pharmacist is a key member of the HSCT team, offering expert pharmaceutical input in this complex, high-risk area. The role involves working with stakeholders to develop and expand the Paediatric ATMP service for Scotland and collaborating across NHS Scotland, the UK, and the EU to ensure efficient and governed delivery of paediatric HSCT and ATMP services. Additionally, the post holder will be part of the Women and Children's team at NHS GGC, supporting care delivery at RHC and deputizing for the Lead Clinical Pharmacist.
The post involves working within the Specialist Haematology/Oncology service, providing highly specialized care to this vulnerable patient group. The role also includes participation in research, quality improvement, and service development initiatives.
Ideal candidates will be confident, enthusiastic, and committed to professional growth. Excellent communication and leadership skills are essential, as the role requires active participation in national MDTs and service reviews. Experience in change management and a drive to advance pharmacy services in line with national strategies are also important.
Applicants must hold a Masters Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent, be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council, and possess postgraduate and Independent Prescribing qualifications.
The working pattern is Monday to Friday, with participation in weekend work, public holidays, and on-call duties.
