Join a leading NHS Trust as an Advanced Audiologist in the Paediatric Audiology team. You will be pivotal in delivering family-friendly hearing services, conducting assessments, and supporting professional care. This role also encompasses direct communication with families and overseeing junior staff training.
Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Advanced Audiologist to join us in the Paediatric Audiology team at Basildon and Thurrock Hospitals to develop our family friendly hearing service.
The post holder will be fully competent in all areas of advanced paediatric hearing assessment, including evoked potential (including under anaesthetic in operating theatre), behavioural testing including visual reinforcement audiometry. Have knowledge of global child development.
Main duties of the jobThe post holder will be able to identify appropriate testing programme for each individual case and interpret results, including complex cases.
The post holder will be able to identify and implement programme of care based on results obtained, consistent with current professional body protocols and new developments in the science of Audiology. Exceptional communication abilities are required for counselling parents of newly diagnosed deaf babies and children. Understanding of grief counselling will be vital.
The post holder will be responsible for paediatric service provision, and able to deputise for manager when necessary. This will require planning time of junior staff and establishing of training programmes.
Be liaison for local Specialist Teachers of the Deaf to ensure children benefit from the prescribed amplification and radio aid provision in educational setting, reviewing cases as necessary.
Be lead for paediatric audit and journal study
To assist in the policy formulation of the Paediatric service. This will impact on other services including ENT and community audiology.
Ensure correct use of evoked potentials equipment and ensure equipment is giving accurate data
